Today we visited two great natural wonders in Guanacaste (and one techincally half in Alajuela province); Llanos de Cortez waterfall, and Rio Celeste in Volcan Tenorio National Park.
Llanos de Cortez is a fresh spring water waterfall that you can swim under and spend the day relaxing in the shade. You can even go “behind the scenes” and look out through the falls.
Rio Celeste is a sky-blue waterfall, lagoon and river, dyed by the minerals coming from the Tenorio volcano. A pretty tough hike up and down rocks and through mud in deep cloud forest to get there, but well worth it. They say when God painted the sky, he washed his brushes in this water. I think it looks like Walt Disney himself dyed the water in one of his themeparks — too beautuful and unreal to believe.
